RECORDING AT HOME...

RECORDING AT HOME... if You're not a Professional Musician

Welcome to RecordAtHome.info. Here you'll find infomation about recording at home! As well as just general information on recording at home, mixing & producing, using audio software, making your own audio productions or songs, and much more related to you goals and answering the questions about your home recording studio. Visit our blog to talk & learn more! And I don't just run this hobby site, I practice what the site preaches... well, as best I can! Hear my solo CD here: Speck 5, 21st Century Freak.

I know how overwhelming recording at home can be. And how confusing it is to surf the web looking for the right gear, software, tips or tricks you need when you do record at home. I've been asked a hundred times this exact question, "Can you tell me how to record my music at home" or "how do I set up my home recording studio". And it's motivated me to start a site dedicated to helping with the answers. I'm dedicated to gathering information for you here... on this site.

When seeking an education on recording at home, you have to be experimental and persistent. Not all home recording software will gel with your home recording studio, so you have to take the time to test the waters. Most software for a home recording studio will offer a free trial of 15 to 30 days or so, and that's long enough to play around and learn the ropes of a product. It's important when recording at home that you have a software that is intuitive and easy to navigate or you'll spend most of your time tracking down answers and helpful hints instead of spending the time being creative. Having said that, however, you should expect some kind of learning curve.

On this site you can find products and information that will help you learn to read and write music. Of course, you can always go at it "by ear", but sooner or later you'll appreciate a little knowledge of music theory... especially if you collaborate with other musicians! RECORDING AT HOME... Producing in your Home Recording Studio

When it comes time to mix down and final production of your tracks, there's an infinite number of tips, tricks and technical wizardry... and most of them will lead to a poor mix if you don't ration them wisely.

I've learned that when it comes to a final mix, what you don't do is equally as important as what you do do. First, have a reference mix. A recording of someone who has the "sound" you're after.

5 TIPS TO HELP YOU EXPERIENCE A BREAKTHROUGH IN YOUR SINGING

by: Esther Wilds

While I was studying in India my teacher invited me to sit in on a lesson with one of her other students, a young girl from the local neighbourhood. I was particularly taken with the sound of this girl's voice as it had a wonderful quality of simplicity and purity as she sang. When I mentioned this to my teacher later in the day she responded by saying that she was very pleased with the progress of this particular student. It turned out that she had not been able to sing in tune or produce a sound of good quality...
